Job Description:

Radiation Safety:

  • Serve as the competent Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) for the factory, ensuring compliance with Atomic Energy Licensing Board (ATOM Malaysia) requirements.
  • Manage the security of radioactive sources, including periodic security audits, maintaining dosimetry records, and overseeing the calibration of radiation monitoring equipment.
  • Lead radiation safety audits and inspections by licensing boards and external bodies, ensuring all findings are addressed promptly.
  • Investigate radiation-related incidents and report to ATOM Malaysia as necessary, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate periodic medical surveillance for radiation workers and arrange timely submission of film badges to the Nuclear Agency.
  • Develop and deliver radiation safety training programs for staff, ensuring a robust understanding of regulatory and internal standards.
  • Organize monthly radiation safety meetings and perform regular audits to identify improvement areas.

ATOM eSPP System and Logistics Coordination:

  • Act as the primary liaison with the Shipping Department to secure import and export approvals from ATOM Malaysia for goods.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions of required documents and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and improve processes related to the ATOM eSPP system to streamline operations.

HSE and Facilities Support:

  • Assist the HSE and Facilities Manager in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Assist Facilities team on handling project and contractors determine by HSE and Facilities Manager.
  • Participate in developing and implementing site-specific HSE programs, such as ergonomic improvement initiatives, emergency response planning, safety observations, behaviour-based safety, and business continuity plan.
  • Conduct incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes, including internal audits and external inspections.
  • Engage in strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety and employee well-being and improvement of excellent HSE culture.
  • Actively contribute to Facilities operations, such as maintaining HVAC systems, managing waste, and supporting renovation projects.

General Responsibilities:

  • Drive safety awareness and foster a culture of proactive HSE compliance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours to ensure alignment with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical support for HSE and Radiation Safety projects, including problem-solving and investigations.
  • Collaborate with site management to align decisions with HSE management goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by HSE and Facilities Manager to support overall organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Science, or related disciplines.
  • Diploma holders with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience will also be considered.

Certifications:

  • Certified Radiation Protection Officer (RPO).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in Radiation Safety.
  • Experience with HSE & ISO Management System needs and requirement.
  • Familiarity with ATOM eSPP systems and logistics coordination.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, FMA, EQA, AELA, and local legal requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
  • Proficient in the ATOM eSPP system for import/export approval processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Good level of physical fitness to perform job functions effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership abilities, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
